What are the distinctions between different Q’Straint securement systems?

The most common way of securing a wheelchair passenger is a 4-Point Securement. This consists of 4 tie-downs (retractors or manual belts), along with occupant securements (passenger lap and shoulder belts), and four separate anchor points on the vehicle floor.

Q’STRAINT also offers options that go beyond a 4-Point Securement, such as:

What is the difference between a retractor and a manual belt?

Q’STRAINT automatic and semi-automatic retractors dramatically decrease the time it takes to secure a wheelchair and eliminate the guess work of proper passenger securement. While manual belts can still be effective, retractors boast many additional features that manual belt systems cannot match.

Product Questions

My retractable shoulder belt no longer works, the retractor is locked.

The retractable shoulder belt has an internal locking mechanism that needs to be released manually once triggered.

My Vehicle has the old style hook floor pocket, do you still support this application?

To use this older style of hook floor pocket with Retractors, you will need a special “retrofit” Slide N’ Click floor pocket: (Part Q8-7583-A2). This product will allow you to use retractors with the Slide N’ Click fittings.

For use with Manual belts, we recommend manual belt kit: (Part Q-5002) that contains the proper attachments to work with your existing hook pockets.

Can I have a QLK docking system installed in my vehicle?

In most cases, yes. QLK systems are designed to work in most vehicles. Please visit an authorized Q’STRAINT mobility dealer for options.

Can I install a 2nd dash control with my QLK system?

Yes! Please visit an authorized Q’STRAINT mobility dealer for options.

Can I install the QLK docking system on my own?

QLK Docking Systems must be installed by a qualified, trained professional.

When I place an order, how long does it take to ship out?

Generally, standard catalog orders will ship the next day.

I purchased a retractable shoulder belt that is missing parts

Retractable shoulder belts can be sold in a number of different configurations and with different options. Each configuration has a unique part number.

If you’ve already purchased and find you need to add a part, below are the most common additions:

1. PLI for L track upper anchor: (Part Q8-6510-RET)

2. PLI for L track lower anchor: (Part Q5-3211-L PAGE)

3. Hardware for mounting to the floor: (Part Q5-3211-1A PAGE)

Note: Part Q8-3030-A is no longer included with any retractable shoulder belt. The stowage pin is now incorporated into the height adjuster.

What if my chair is not listed on the QLK bracket list?

If your manual wheelchair is not listed, most likely one of our universal brackets will work for you.

Follow these steps to find your bracket:

Step 1: You will need to take some measurements of your wheelchair. Visit the QLK Bracket List and select the ‘Wheelchair Measurements & Weight Limits’ link at the bottom of the page. This will explain how to get your chair measurements.

Step 2: To find your bracket, choose ‘Any’ for both ‘Company’ and ‘Series’ . Then continue to fill out the additional questions with your chair measurement info from step 1.

 

If you have a power chair that is not yet listed, it is possible that we do not yet have a bracket available. Contact our customer support team to find out when a bracket for your chair will be available.

While looking for a QLK bracket, I have 'no options available' for my chair

Some wheelchair models have optional accessories that may change your bracket selection.

If your model does not show any options, this simply means that there are no options that will affect your bracket choice. You can select ‘no option’ and continue on to find your bracket.

How do I find the right kit for my vehicle?

Q’STRAINT systems are designed to work in any vehicle. This means there are many options and configurations to find the perfect match for your vehicle, industry or application.

On many of the product pages on this website, you can view the most popular kits by scrolling down to the ‘FEATURES & DETAILS’ section and clicking on the ‘KITS’ tab.
